A great outreach to hundreds across the U.S. and in several foreign countries. There is no way to know how God is using this in individual lives, nor all the decisions that are being made. From time to time a student will write indicating a salvation or dedication decision. W e must leave it in the Lord’s hands to work in their hearts and bring them to the point of decision. So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).
With courses for different ages and at different educational levels in both English and Spanish, students have a wide variety of topics from which to choose. Lessons are sent free of charge to the student. They are graded by one of our trained staff members, and then returned with the next lesson for completion. Students are encouraged to ask questions if there is something they do not understand. When all the lessons in the course have been satisfactorily completed, a certificate is issued.
The doors are wide open. Time and time again we receive letters from inmates of how God is working in their lives through the Mailbox Ministry. But many times, that initial contact with them begins with a visit from a chaplain sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. The men and women behind bars often find themselves at the lowest point in their lives, thinking no one cares – no one loves them. But there is the love of God, that as Christians, we are to share with others. Currently we have one chaplain who visits inmates in the Wagoner and Delaware County Detention Centers and the Jess Dunn facility in Taft, Oklahoma.
Reaching all over the world, this avenue of ministry allows anyone with a computer to access stories and puzzles online. A new feature this year is the Online Bible Courses. Be sure to check out what is available. The stories and puzzles may be used as resources for teachers.
