Maria just loved to get mail because she knew that it was another challenge for her to find an answer in God's Word. People wrote her with questions. Using the Word of God, Maria found the answers. If she couldn't find it, she would ask Doc Solomon or Pastor Becker. If you have a question about God, then you can write with your question to mariasmailbox@christforme.org.
Sitting at her desk, Maria opened the letter and read:
Dear Maria,
Hi, my name is Corey. I've been a Christian since I was 9 years old. There is a boy in my class that will not quit picking on me. He is one year older and continues to mock me because I'm a Christian. He has beaten me up several times and I don't know what to do. Can you give me any suggestions?
Sincerely,
Corey Tyler
She discussed the letter with Doc Solomon. He encouraged her to read Matthew 5-7. After she had studied, she answered...
Dear Corey,
Thank you for your question. The answer to your question is Compassion. Compassion is seeing a person the way the Lord does and acting accordingly. This is difficult when someone is being hateful and hurtful. But remember, Jesus died and rose again because of His compassion for you. Jesus told His disciples that it would not be easy and people would persecute them.
I think that the following verse from God's Word says everything. "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you," Matthew 5:44.
Pray for him and show him the love of God. Maybe through your witness, he will see God's love.
In Christ,
Maria Lopez
